IPTV Mexican Channels: Televisa and TV Azteca, Legally in the US

Short answer: you can't legally buy Las Estrellas or Azteca Uno as live channels in the US, but you can get most of what's on them. Televisa's novelas, news and Liga MX reach the US through its sister company Univision and the ViX app, which has a free tier and a Premium plan for about $6 to $9 a month. TV Azteca is the hard one: its US network, Azteca América, closed at the end of 2022, and nothing has replaced it.

Mexican channels and their US equivalents

People searching for Mexican channels on IPTV usually want one of four things: the evening novelas, Mexican news, Liga MX, or the variety and comedy shows they grew up with. Mexican broadcasters license their channels for Mexico. In the US, the same programmes are licensed separately, often to a different channel name.

In Mexico Owner Where its content shows up in the US
Las Estrellas Televisa Univision (novelas, often within days or weeks), ViX
Canal 5 Televisa Some shows on UniMás, Galavisión and ViX
N+ Foro (news) Televisa No US live feed; Univision runs its own news
TUDN (Mexico) TelevisaUnivision TUDN US cable channel, ViX Premium
Azteca Uno, Azteca 7 TV Azteca No US network since 2022
Imagen Televisión Grupo Imagen We couldn't find a US package carrying its main channel

The short version: if it's Televisa, there's almost always a legal US route. If it's TV Azteca or Imagen, there usually isn't one for the live channel.

Televisa: how it reaches the US

Televisa and Univision merged in 2022 to form TelevisaUnivision, which is why Televisa content is easy to find here. The US side runs four TV networks and one streaming service:

Univision is free over the air in most large US markets. It carries the big Televisa prime-time novelas, plus news and Liga MX.

UniMás is also free over the air, with more sport, comedy and older series.

Galavisión and TUDN are cable channels, available through live-TV services and Spanish-language packs.

ViX is the streaming app. The free tier has on-demand novelas and a large set of ad-supported live channels. ViX Premium adds ad-free libraries, ViX originals and a big share of TelevisaUnivision's live soccer.

For a novela viewer, Univision with an antenna plus ViX free is often enough. You won't see every episode on the same night as Mexico, but you won't pay anything either. Our general guide to Spanish-language TV in the USA compares the wider set of Spanish networks, including Telemundo.

TV Azteca: the gap

This is where a lot of searches come from, and the honest answer isn't great. TV Azteca ran its own US network, Azteca América, until it shut down at the end of 2022. Since then, there's been no licensed US channel carrying Azteca Uno or Azteca 7 live.

TV Azteca's own apps and websites are built for viewers in Mexico, and live channels there are restricted by the rights TV Azteca holds. Getting around that is against their terms, and we don't cover it.

What US viewers can still find: individual TV Azteca productions that get licensed to US streaming services from time to time, and clips on TV Azteca's official YouTube channels. For live Mexican-made entertainment in the same spirit, Estrella TV, a US Spanish network with a lot of Mexican talent and regional Mexican music, is free over the air in many cities and streams free on Tubi.

Anyone selling "Azteca Uno live" as part of a cheap US IPTV plan is rebroadcasting it without permission.

What each licensed option costs

Option What you get Price
Antenna Univision, UniMás, Telemundo, Estrella TV where broadcast $20 to $60 once
ViX (free) Ad-supported novelas, live channels, some soccer $0
ViX Premium Ad-free library, originals, much of TelevisaUnivision's live soccer About $6 to $9/mo; $6.99 via Sling, $8.99 direct
Peacock Premium Telemundo novelas and Telemundo's Liga MX clubs $12.99/mo
Fubo Latino Spanish-language live channel bundle $19.99/mo
FOX One Fox Deportes and FOX's Liga MX games $19.99/mo
DIRECTV MiEspañol Most major Spanish-language channels plus ViX Premium with ads $37.99/mo

Channel line-ups inside the bundles change, and Televisa-made cable channels such as TLNovelas come and go from packages. If one specific channel matters, search for it on the provider's line-up page with your ZIP code before you sign up. Fubo's full plan structure is in our Fubo cost guide.

Liga MX, club by club

Liga MX doesn't sell US rights centrally. Each club sells its own home games, so your team decides your app. The Apertura 2026 started on 16 July and its playoffs begin on 25 November, with the Clausura 2027 starting in January.

TelevisaUnivision (Univision, UniMás, TUDN, ViX Premium) holds the largest group of clubs.

Telemundo and Peacock carry Chivas, Tigres and FC Juárez home games, on Telemundo, Universo and Peacock Premium.

FOX carries several clubs on Fox Deportes and FOX One.

ESPN no longer has Liga MX in the US, and there are no Prime Video exclusives, though some clubs appear through Prime Video channel add-ons. English-language commentary is limited.

Check your club's broadcaster before you subscribe, then check the opponent's for away games. For how Liga MX fits with the European leagues and MLS, see what each soccer league costs to stream.

Three setups for a Mexican household

Household Setup Monthly
Novelas and news, tight budget Antenna for Univision and Telemundo, ViX free, Estrella TV on Tubi $0
Novelas plus a Televisa-side Liga MX club Antenna and ViX Premium About $7 to $9
Everything Spanish-language in one guide DIRECTV MiEspañol (ViX Premium included), add Peacock if you follow Chivas About $38 to $51

For older relatives used to channel surfing, the antenna-plus-ViX setup works best on a smart TV with a built-in tuner and a live guide, such as many Google TV and Fire TV models, where antenna channels and app channels can sit in one guide. For an antenna that fits your distance from the towers, see our antenna guide.

About the "Mexico IPTV" boxes

A big share of results for this search sell Android boxes or monthly lists with Las Estrellas, Azteca Uno, Imagen, every Mexican sports channel and the US channels on top, for $10 to $20 a month. None of those sellers hold rights to those channels in the US. Televisa licenses its US distribution to TelevisaUnivision; TV Azteca and Imagen don't license their live Mexican channels to anonymous resellers.

The problems tend to arrive together. Channels disappear when the source is cut, often during Liga MX playoffs or the big novela finale. Prepaid annual plans vanish with the seller. Some boxes ship with unknown firmware, which you then plug into your home network. And payment is usually by Zelle, gift card or crypto, with no protection if it all stops working.

It's also less necessary than it used to be. Most Televisa programming is free on Univision and ViX's free tier, and the paid options start under $10. If you've already been sold a box, our guide to spotting an IPTV scam covers what to check.

How can I watch TV Azteca in the US? There's no licensed live US channel for Azteca Uno or Azteca 7 since Azteca América closed at the end of 2022. Some TV Azteca shows are licensed to streaming services, and TV Azteca posts clips on its official YouTube channels.

Is ViX free? Partly. ViX has a free, ad-supported tier with novelas and live channels. ViX Premium costs about $6 to $9 a month depending on how you subscribe.

What's the best package for Mexican and Spanish channels? DIRECTV's MiEspañol pack at $37.99 a month carries most major Spanish-language networks and includes ViX Premium with ads. Fubo Latino at $19.99 is a cheaper live bundle.

Where can I watch Liga MX in the US? It depends on the club: TelevisaUnivision (Univision, TUDN, ViX), Telemundo and Peacock, or FOX. ESPN no longer carries Liga MX.
