Best IPTV Service in the USA: Locals, RSNs and Blackouts

Short answer: The best IPTV service in the USA is the one that carries your own local affiliates and your team's regional sports network, and that differs by ZIP code. Nationally, YouTube TV is the safest default. But if you follow a team on a FanDuel Sports Network channel, it cannot show those games, and DirecTV or Fubo usually can. The other US-specific catch is carriage disputes, which can pull a network off a service for months.

Why the US is different

In most countries a national TV service carries the same channels everywhere. The US is built differently. ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox are delivered through more than 200 local markets, each with its own affiliate stations, and live sport is carved up further by regional sports networks (RSNs) that hold local rights to baseball, basketball and hockey teams.

Every IPTV service has to sign deals with each of those owners. So two neighbours in different markets, or a fan of the Guardians and a fan of the Dodgers, can reach different conclusions about the "best" service. Our general guide to the best IPTV service by household covers the national picture; this one covers the local layer.

The national options in September 2026

Service List price Local affiliates RSN coverage
YouTube TV $82.99 Nearly all markets Limited; no FanDuel Sports Network
Hulu + Live TV $89.99 Most markets Limited
Fubo Pro Roughly $74-$89 Most markets Wide, including many FanDuel Sports Network channels
DirecTV (streaming) $89.99 Entertainment Most markets Widest; RSNs on Choice tier or MySports pack
Sling Orange/Blue $45.99 Blue only, in some cities Very limited
Philo $25-$33 None None

Prices exclude tax and the regional sports fee that some services add where an RSN is carried. Fubo's has been quoted at roughly $3 to $17 a month depending on area.

Step one: your local affiliates

Open each service's channel-lookup page and enter your ZIP code. You are looking for four logos, ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, plus PBS and The CW if you watch them.

In large markets every full bundle usually has them. Gaps appear in smaller markets and when an affiliate group is in dispute with a particular service.

If a service is missing a local station, an antenna is the cheapest fix and often gives a better picture than the stream. See local channels without cable.

Step two: your team's regional sports network

This is where the national default breaks down. The FanDuel Sports Network group, which carries many NBA, NHL and MLB teams, is available through DirecTV's streaming service (on its Choice plan or the MySports genre pack), through Fubo, and as an add-on through Amazon Prime Video Channels. YouTube TV and Sling do not carry it.

Other teams sit on RSNs owned by NBC Sports, by the teams themselves or by cable companies, each with its own list of distributors. A growing number of clubs have also moved games back to free local broadcast or sell their own streaming packages.

The quick test: search "how to watch [team] 2026" on the team's own website. Teams publish a list of every service that carries their games in-market. Our regional sports network streaming guide goes into more detail.

The risk nobody lists: carriage disputes

When a service and a channel owner fail to agree fees, channels go dark on that service until they settle. These are not rare. Fubo lost NBCUniversal's channels, including NBC's local stations and regional sports networks, from November 2025 until a new deal in June 2026, which meant Sunday Night Football, the Super Bowl and the Olympics were missing for its subscribers. Several other services have had shorter stand-offs with Disney, Fox and station groups.

Three sensible precautions follow. Keep billing monthly, so you can move if a dispute drags on. Keep an antenna for local stations, which no carriage dispute can switch off. And check the news before a big event you care about, not on the day.

Picks by American situation

Your situation Look at first
Big city, NFL and network TV, no local team on an RSN YouTube TV
Follow an NBA, NHL or MLB team on FanDuel Sports Network DirecTV (Choice or MySports) or Fubo
NFL out-of-market games every Sunday YouTube TV with NFL Sunday Ticket
Rural area with weak antenna reception A full bundle with confirmed locals
Mostly entertainment, happy with an antenna Philo
Spanish-language channels A full bundle's Spanish add-on, or Sling Latino

For Spanish-language options specifically, see Spanish IPTV in the USA.

Every service above is licensed. Services sold through social media or messaging apps that promise every RSN and every out-of-market game for a few dollars cannot hold those rights, because the rights holders do not sell them that way. US enforcement against unlicensed services is active, and viewers who pay for them have no recourse when they vanish.

If a price looks too good, compare it with what the rights cost legitimately: ESPN alone sells for $32 a month on its own service, and a single team's RSN add-on is often around $20. A bundle claiming to include all of them for less than either is not a bargain, it is a warning. Paying by card to a named US company also gives you chargeback protection that crypto and gift cards do not.

Quick answers

What is the best IPTV service in the USA? For most people YouTube TV, because it carries local affiliates in nearly every market. If your local team is on a FanDuel Sports Network channel, DirecTV's streaming service or Fubo is usually the better choice.

Which US streaming services carry regional sports networks? DirecTV's streaming service carries the widest range, with Fubo close behind. YouTube TV and Sling carry few RSNs and do not carry FanDuel Sports Network.

Does YouTube TV have FanDuel Sports Network? No. In 2026 FanDuel Sports Network is available through DirecTV's streaming plans, Fubo and Amazon Prime Video Channels, not YouTube TV.

What is a carriage dispute? A disagreement over fees between a TV service and a channel owner. Until it is settled, the channels are removed from that service, sometimes for months.

How do I check which local channels I will get? Enter your ZIP code on each service's channel-lookup page before signing up. Availability differs by market.

Is there a cheap way to get local channels in the US? An over-the-air antenna receives local ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and PBS stations free in most areas, and it cannot be affected by carriage disputes.

Are cheap US IPTV services with every sports channel legal? No. Services offering every regional sports network and out-of-market game for a few dollars do not hold those rights, and they are regularly shut down.
