Best IPTV Service in 2026: Picks by Household

Short answer: For most US households the best IPTV service in 2026 is YouTube TV, because it pairs local channels in nearly every market with the easiest app and an unlimited DVR. But it is only best if you need a full bundle. A sports-first home, a budget home and a home that never watches sport each have a different winner, and choosing by household saves far more than choosing by channel count.

At a glance

Best IPTV service, by household

Best all-rounder YouTube TV, $82.99 a month
Best for sport Fubo, or YouTube TV with add-ons
Best budget Philo, $25-$33, no sport or locals
Best flexible Sling, from $45.99, with day passes
Best for Disney bundlers Hulu + Live TV, $89.99

How we judged "best"

There is no single best service, only the best fit for what you watch. We looked at five things, in this order: whether it carries your local stations, how well it covers the sport you follow, what it costs once fees are added, how usable its app and DVR are, and how many screens it allows.

We only consider licensed services: companies that pay the networks for their channels, publish their terms and sell through normal payment systems. Cheap unlicensed channel packages are left out on purpose. They are the ones that disappear overnight when enforcement agencies act, and there is no such thing as a good one.

Prices below are list prices in September 2026, before taxes and regional sports fees. For a plain description of what these services include, see what an IPTV service gives you.

Best all-rounder: YouTube TV

Why it wins. It carries ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in almost every US market, its guide and search are the most intuitive of the group, and its cloud DVR has no storage cap, with recordings kept for nine months. Multiview, which puts up to four games on one screen, is useful on busy sports days.

The catch. At $82.99 it is not cheap, and the base plan allows three streams at once. The $9.99 4K Plus add-on lifts that limit at home and adds 4K where available.

Cheaper route. YouTube TV now sells genre plans, for example an entertainment plan at $54.99 and a sports plan at $64.99, which suit households that only watch one kind of TV.

Best for sport: it depends on the sport

Sport is where "best" changes most, because rights are split across broadcasters and streaming services. Fubo is built around sport, with a large sports line-up and an at-home allowance of many screens. YouTube TV is the home of NFL Sunday Ticket. DirecTV's higher tiers are the easiest way to get some regional sports networks.

Increasingly, a single full bundle is not enough. ESPN's own service sells ESPN Unlimited, which rose to $32 a month in September 2026, and Fox One offers Fox's networks directly. A household that only cares about football might combine an antenna, ESPN and Fox One rather than pay for a full bundle.

Best on a budget: Philo or Sling

Philo is the cheapest licensed live-TV service at $25 for its Essential plan, with the Bundle+ tier at $33 adding HBO Max (Basic with Ads), discovery+ and AMC+. It carries dozens of entertainment and lifestyle networks with an unlimited DVR kept for a year. It carries no local channels and almost no sport.

Sling sells Orange and Blue at $45.99 each, or both for $60.99. Orange is the cheaper way to get ESPN; Blue has more news and entertainment and three streams. Sling's day, weekend and week passes, from $4.99, suit people who only want live TV for a single event.

Pair either with an antenna for local stations and the total can still come in well under a full bundle. The cheapest way to watch live TV covers the combinations.

Hulu + Live TV and DirecTV

Hulu + Live TV costs $89.99 a month with ads and includes Disney+ and an ESPN tier. If you already pay for those, it can be better value than its headline price suggests. Its base plan allows two streams at once. Disney has combined its business with Fubo, but both services continue to be sold separately.

DirecTV's streaming plans start with Entertainment at $89.99. It is the most cable-like option, with numbered channels and larger premium tiers, but it rarely wins on price.

Where neither fits. If you never watch sport and rarely watch the news live, you may not need live TV at all. Free ad-supported apps such as Pluto TV, Tubi and the Roku Channel carry hundreds of themed channels, and on-demand services cover most drama and film. Many households find that a single on-demand subscription plus an antenna does everything a $90 bundle did.

How to test before you commit

Enter your ZIP code on each service's channel page to see what you actually get.

Use a trial or a single month. None of the major services require a contract.

Watch a live event on a weekday evening, when networks are busiest, on the TV you use most.

Record something and play it back to see whether adverts can be skipped.

Check the total at checkout, including regional sports fees and tax, not just the advertised figure.
