Short answer: Most Smart IPTV "activation" problems aren't activation problems. If you've paid and the app still shows the trial notice, the cause is nearly always a mistyped MAC or device ID, or the app holding on to its old status until a full power cycle. If the app is activated but shows errors such as "No playlist uploaded" or "Check playlist URL", the licence is fine and the problem is the playlist. Fix them in that order, and don't pay twice until you've ruled out the first.

Quick diagnosis
| Still on trial after paying | Power-cycle the TV, then re-check the ID |
| Site rejects the MAC | Typo, wrong format, or letter O for zero |
| ID changed | Connection switch, reset, or Android 13+ device |
| Paid for the wrong ID | Contact the developer with the receipt |
| Activated, no channels | A playlist problem, not activation |
Start by working out which group your problem falls into. The fixes in one group won't help with the other, and plenty of people pay a second activation fee for what turns out to be a dead playlist link.
Activation problem or playlist problem?
Smart IPTV does two separate things. It checks with the developer's server whether your device's ID is licensed, and it loads whatever playlist you uploaded for that ID. Either can fail on its own.
| What you see | Which side | Go to |
|---|---|---|
| Trial notice or "activate" message after paying | Activation | Fix 1 |
| Activation website won't accept the MAC | Activation | Fix 2 |
| App shows a different MAC or ID from the one you paid for | Activation | Fix 3 |
| "No playlist uploaded" | Playlist | Fix 5 |
| "Check playlist URL" or "Server (URL) connection timeout" | Playlist | Fix 5 |
| "Stream failed", "Cannot connect", constant buffering | Stream | Fix 5 |
A useful test: if the app opens straight to a channel list or a playlist error without mentioning the trial or activation, the licence is working.
Fix 1: still showing the trial after paying
The app checks its status when it starts. If it was open while you paid, or the TV only went into standby, it may still be showing the cached result.
- Close the app completely and reopen it. On a Samsung or LG TV, closing the app from the remote often just hides it.
- Unplug the TV at the wall for about a minute. The developer recommends this to clear the app's cache, and it's the step that fixes the most cases. Standby is not the same thing.
- Compare the ID on screen with your receipt, character by character. If one differs, you've licensed a different device. Jump to Fix 4.
- Check you're on the same connection. If you paid while on Ethernet and the TV is now on Wi-Fi, the app may be showing the other MAC. Restart the app; the developer says the second MAC is activated automatically.
- Give it time if you paid by a slower method. Card payments are normally instant. Older guides mention manual activations taking up to 48 hours to confirm; if your payment receipt says pending, that's why.
Fix 2: the website rejects the MAC
A MAC address is exactly twelve hexadecimal characters: 0-9 and a-f. Anything else and the form will refuse it.
- Letters that can't be there. O is always 0. I or l is always 1. There's no G through Z.
- Missing or extra pair. Count them: six pairs. Phone photos cut off at the edge are a common culprit.
- Separators. Enter it exactly as the app shows it, colons included. If the form still refuses it, try without colons.
- A device ID instead of a MAC. On LG webOS 3.0 and later and on Android 13+ devices, the app shows a device ID rather than a MAC. It's still the right number to enter; it just won't look like a typical MAC from your TV's settings.

Fix 3: the MAC or ID changed
A licence that used to work and suddenly reverts to "trial" usually means the identifier the app reports has changed. The usual causes:
| Cause | What happened | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Switched Wi-Fi to Ethernet (or back) | TV has a second MAC | Restart the app; second MAC activates automatically |
| Android 13+ or Play Store install | App uses a temporary device ID | Avoid clearing data or factory resets |
| Factory reset of an Android or Google TV device | Temporary ID regenerated | Contact developer support with old ID and receipt |
| TV repaired (main board replaced) | New hardware MAC | Contact support with proof of repair and receipt |
| New TV | New device | Activation needed for the new TV |
The developer's FAQ is explicit on the Android point: to keep the same device ID, don't factory-reset the device. That's worth knowing before you try a reset as a general fix for something else.
Fix 4: you paid for the wrong ID
It happens: a single wrong character and the licence lands on a device that doesn't exist. Paying again to the correct ID is the quick route, and at €5.49 many people just do that.
If you'd rather sort out the original payment, contact the developer through the support page on iptv.app or siptv.app. Include your payment receipt, the ID you paid for, and the correct ID as shown in the app. Don't send the TV's network MAC unless it's the same as the one in the app.
If you paid a third-party "activation service" rather than the developer, the developer has no record of your payment. You'll have to deal with whoever took the money. Our IPTV refund guide covers card chargebacks and PayPal disputes.
Fix 5: activated, but nothing plays
This is a playlist or stream issue. Activation can't fix it, and paying again won't either. The developer's FAQ lists the messages and what usually causes them:
- "No playlist uploaded". No playlist is linked to this ID. Upload it again on the developer's playlist page using the ID the app currently shows. If your ID changed (Fix 3), the playlist didn't follow it.
- "Check playlist URL" or "Server (URL) connection timeout". The app can't fetch the playlist. Make sure the link is direct (not a shortened or redirecting link) and online. Very large playlists can time out; the developer suggests trying a smaller list, turning off the guide (EPG), or using the "Save online" option when uploading.
- "Stream failed" or "Cannot connect". The playlist loads, but individual streams don't. Either the stream links are down, or your TV can't decode that format. Different TV models support different codecs.
To force a reload after changing something, long-press 0 or CH on the remote, or use Reload in the app's menu. The developer also recommends testing with its built-in example list: if that plays and yours doesn't, the issue is your source.

When it's the source, not the app
Smart IPTV is only a player and ships with no channels. When playlists stop working overnight, the cause is often the service that issued them: an expired subscription, a changed server address, or a seller that's been taken offline. Unlicensed services disappear regularly, and when they do there's nothing an app can do about it.
If you're paying for a playlist, check the account status with that provider first. And if you're not sure whether that provider is licensed to carry what it sells, that's worth settling before you spend another fee on activations or renewals.
One thing not to do: install a different player and pay for that too in the hope it helps. If the playlist is dead, it's dead everywhere. Test it in a free player such as VLC on a computer first. Our IPTV login failed guide covers how to tell a bad credential from a bad server.
Quick answers
Why does Smart IPTV still say trial after I paid? Usually because the app hasn't re-checked its status. Close the app, unplug the TV for about a minute, and reopen it. If it still shows the trial, compare the ID on screen with the one on your receipt.
Why won't the activation site accept my MAC address? A MAC is twelve characters using only 0-9 and a-f. Check for a letter O instead of zero, a missing pair, or a cut-off photo. Enter it exactly as the app shows it.
My Smart IPTV MAC changed. Do I need to pay again? Not if it's because you switched between Wi-Fi and Ethernet: the developer says the second MAC activates automatically after restarting the app. A factory reset on Android or a new TV can require a new activation.
I paid for the wrong MAC. Can I get it moved? Contact the developer's support with your receipt, the ID you paid for and the correct ID shown in the app. If you paid a third-party site, only that site can help.
What does 'No playlist uploaded' mean? The app is working, but no playlist is linked to the ID it currently shows. Upload the playlist again on the developer's site using the ID on screen.
Will paying for activation fix buffering or 'Stream failed'? No. Those are stream or source problems. Activation only unlocks the player.
Does Smart IPTV activation include channels? No. The app is a player with no channels. You need a playlist from a service you subscribe to.
