NBA on Amazon Prime Video: 2026-27 Games, Price and Setup

Short answer: yes, NBA games are included in a standard Prime membership or a Prime Video subscription, with no extra sports fee. In 2026-27 Prime Video has more than 60 regular-season games, mostly on Fridays, plus the NBA Cup knockout rounds, all six Play-In games and, for the first time, the Eastern Conference Finals exclusively. The catch: these are national exclusives, so they aren't on NBA League Pass live and you shouldn't expect your team's local channel to carry them.

What's on Prime Video this season

2026-27 is Prime Video's second NBA season under the league's 11-year deal.

Regular season. Prime's schedule is built around Friday nights, usually as doubleheaders, with some Thursday and Saturday games added from January. Amazon's own announcement counts 67 games; the NBA's broadcast summary lists 66, a difference that comes down to how special events are counted.

Opening night for Prime is Friday 23 October: the defending champion Knicks against the Celtics at 7pm Eastern, then Rockets at Spurs.

Most-featured teams: the Knicks, 76ers, Spurs and Lakers each appear ten times, and the Thunder eight.

What it costs

Prime membership: $14.99 a month or $139 a year in the US, which also includes shipping and Amazon's other benefits.

Prime Video only: a standalone video membership, around $8.99 a month, costs less than full Prime and includes the NBA games.

Discounts: Amazon offers half-price Prime to eligible students and young adults and to people receiving qualifying government assistance.

Adverts: live games carry commercial breaks whichever plan you have; Prime Video's ad-free add-on affects films and series, not live sport.

Outside the US, Prime Video's NBA rights differ by country. In most places, NBA games are with a local broadcaster or League Pass instead.

Blackouts and local channels

League Pass: Prime Video games are national broadcasts, so they're blacked out live on NBA League Pass in the US and appear as replays at 6am Eastern the next day.

Local channels: Prime's NBA games are national exclusives, so don't count on your team's regional channel showing them as well. Check your team's local listings for any exceptions.

No home-market blackout on Prime itself. A Prime game involving your local team is available to you on Prime Video like any other.

Features worth knowing

Prime Vision is an alternate feed with an above-the-rim camera angle and on-screen data, selectable when a game starts.

Prime Insights adds real-time statistics and analysis, including mismatch detection, to the broadcast.

Studio shows run around each game: a pre-game show starting 30 minutes before tip-off, a halftime programme and a post-game show.

Spanish-language coverage is available alongside English.

League Pass through Prime Video Channels. NBA League Pass can be added as a channel inside Prime Video, which keeps out-of-market games and Prime's national games in one app.

Watching on your TV

Prime Video has apps for Fire TV, Google TV and Android TV, Roku, Apple TV, most smart TVs and games consoles.

Find games from the Sports or Live TV tab, or search for "NBA". Live games also appear on the Fire TV home screen.

Start from the beginning or jump to live: joining late gives you the choice.

Use a wired connection for the main TV where you can, and keep the Prime Video app up to date. Fire TV sticks that struggle with live sport are often just short of storage.

Who benefits most

Knicks, 76ers, Spurs and Lakers fans get ten national games each on Prime, the most of any teams, so Prime is close to essential for them.

Anyone who already has Prime gets a substantial slice of the national schedule at no extra cost. It's the cheapest national NBA package there is if you're paying for Prime anyway.

Playoff viewers need Prime in 2027 more than last year. With the Play-In and the Eastern Conference Finals both exclusive, following the East to the Finals isn't possible without it.

League Pass subscribers should note that Prime games are the Friday-night gaps in their package. Adding League Pass as a Prime Video Channel keeps both in one place.

Viewers abroad generally won't see these games on Prime; League Pass or a local broadcaster is the route there.

If a game won't play

"Not available in your location" usually means you're outside the US, where Prime doesn't hold NBA rights.

Buffering at tip-off tends to be local: restart the app, check the device's connection speed, and try the stream again. Joining a few minutes late and using "start from beginning" can help if the first minutes are congested.

Audio out of step with the picture is almost always a TV or soundbar setting rather than the stream; our guide to fixing audio sync walks through it.

Too many streams errors come from Prime's own limit on simultaneous streams per account; stop playback on other devices first.

How Prime fits the rest of the season

Prime Video is one of three national partners. NBC and Peacock have Monday, Tuesday and, from late January, Sunday nights; ESPN and ABC have Wednesdays, weekends from midseason, Christmas, the Western Conference Finals and the Finals.
