Two completely different things get sold as an "IPTV Smarters Pro subscription", and most buyers don't realise until they've paid for the wrong one. One is the app's own Premium upgrade, bought through Apple or Google, which unlocks features and costs a few dollars. The other is a channel playlist sold by websites using the Smarters name, which costs $15 to $20 a month and has nothing to do with the app's developer.
Short answer: the genuine Smarters Pro app is free to download, and its only paid item on Apple's App Store in October 2026 was "Premium - Smarters Pro" at $4.99. That buys app features, not channels. Any "Smarters Pro subscription" priced by the month or year on a website is a playlist from an unrelated seller. If you're paying for the app, pay only through the App Store or Google Play, where you can cancel and request refunds.
At a glance
The two "Smarters subscriptions"
| App download | Free |
| App Premium (Apple) | $4.99, via the App Store |
| What Premium buys | App features. No channels |
| Website "subscriptions" | Playlists from unrelated sellers, ~$15-$20/mo |
| Cancel and refunds | Through Apple or Google, not the developer |
Two products with the same name
| App Premium | Website "Smarters subscription" | |
|---|---|---|
| Sold by | Tech Smarters Private Limited, through Apple or Google | Independent sellers with "smarters" in the domain |
| Price seen in 2026 | $4.99 (App Store) | About $15-$20 a month; $55-$165 a year by device count |
| What you get | Extra app features | A login for a channel list |
| Licensed content? | No content at all | Almost never |
| Cancel and refund | Store account settings and refund pages | Up to the seller |
The developer is explicit on its website: Smarters Pro "does not provide, sell, or distribute any media content or streaming services", and it warns about sites misusing its branding. So the right-hand column has no connection to the app's maker, however official the site looks. We explain what those sellers are actually offering in IPTV Smarters is a player, not a service, and who the real developer is in who makes IPTV Smarters.
What the app's own Premium costs
This is the part most "subscription" pages never mention, because none of them are selling it.
| Store | Listing | Paid items shown (Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac) | Smarters Pro, Tech Smarters Private Limited | "Premium - Smarters Pro", $4.99 |
| Google Play (Android TV and phones) | Smarters Pro, Tech Smarters Private Limited | "In-app purchases"; price shown inside the app before you confirm |
| Developer's website | smarterspro.com | No price list; says Premium is "intended solely to unlock enhanced features" |
Two practical notes. The App Store's public page lists the item and price but not, on that page, whether it renews; the purchase sheet on your device says plainly if it's a subscription and how often it bills, so read it before tapping. And Google Play doesn't show in-app prices on the public web listing, so the figure you see on your TV at checkout, in your local currency, is the one that counts.
Prices change and vary by country. Treat $4.99 as an October 2026 snapshot of the US App Store, not a promise.
What Premium does and doesn't unlock
The developer doesn't publish a neat free-versus-paid table, and the split has shifted between versions. What's consistent is the boundary:
- Premium can unlock: app features the developer reserves for paying users. It doesn't publish the list outside the app, and it has changed between versions, so read the upgrade screen on your device before buying.
- Premium never unlocks: channels, films, sports or a TV guide for a service you haven't got. Smarters is a player. Without a playlist or login from a TV service, Premium shows you a nicer empty screen.
That's why Google Play reviews in 2026 include frustrated buyers saying they paid and "still can't watch anything". In most of those cases, the purchase worked; there was simply no legitimate playlist behind it. A smaller number of reviews describe a paywall reappearing after a previous purchase, which is a restore problem: use the app's "restore purchases" option while signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you paid with.
Lookalike apps with weekly subscriptions
Search either store for "Smarters" and you'll also find apps from other publishers using the name. Some are decent independent players. Others are built around a paywall: free to install, then a subscription screen before you can add a playlist, often with a short trial that rolls into weekly or monthly billing.
Before paying for any of them:
- Check the developer line. The genuine apps say Tech Smarters Private Limited.
- Read the purchase sheet. A weekly price looks small; multiplied out it can beat a year of a well-known player. Apple and Google both show the billing period before you confirm.
- Look at the free trial terms. Trials on both stores convert automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before they end.
If you're on an iPhone or Apple TV and want to compare established paid players, our guide to IPTV players for iPhone sets out their prices and trial terms side by side.
How to cancel
If the purchase was a subscription, you cancel it with the store, not inside the app and not with the developer. Deleting the app doesn't cancel anything.
| Where you paid | Where to cancel |
|---|---|
| iPhone or iPad | Settings → your name → Subscriptions → the app → Cancel Subscription |
| Apple TV | Settings → Users and Accounts → your account → Subscriptions |
| Mac | App Store → your name → Account Settings → Subscriptions → Manage |
| Android phone or Google TV | Play Store → profile icon → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → the app → Cancel |
| Any device, from a browser | play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions for Google; Apple subscriptions are managed from an Apple device or account page |
If the app doesn't appear in your subscriptions list, the purchase was one-off and there's nothing to cancel. If you paid a website for a "Smarters subscription", none of this applies: that's a deal with the seller, and our guide to pausing or cancelling an IPTV subscription covers what you can do.
How to get a refund
- Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose "Request a refund", and pick the purchase. Apple decides; requests made soon after purchase, or for an accidental trial conversion, have the best chance.
- Google Play: within 48 hours of buying, you can request a refund directly through Google Play from your order history. After that, Google points you to the developer first; the support address on the listing is support@techsmarters.com.
- Website sellers: no store protects you. A card or PayPal dispute is the realistic route, ideally quickly. Our IPTV refund guide walks through it.
What a year actually costs
Because the app and the content are separate bills, it helps to add them up. Three common setups, using prices seen in October 2026:
| Setup | App | Content | First-year total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smarters with your own antenna tuner (e.g. HDHomeRun) | $0-$4.99 | Tuner hardware, one-off; channels free over the air | Hardware cost plus up to $4.99 |
| A licensed live-TV service in its own app | Not needed | The service's monthly price | 12 x the monthly price |
| Smarters plus a website "Smarters subscription" | $0-$4.99 | About $55-$165 a year, unlicensed | Cheap on paper, with no recourse if it disappears |
The app is the smallest number in every row. If someone quotes you a "Smarters" price of $60 or $100 a year, you're being quoted for the content, and the content is what deserves the scrutiny.
Is it worth paying for?
Our view: try the free version first with the playlist you actually have. If it plays your channels smoothly and you hit a limit you care about, $4.99 is a small price for an app you'll use daily, and paying the developer through the store is the clean way to do it.
If you don't have a legitimate playlist yet, don't pay for anything with Smarters in the name. Sort out the TV service first. For most US households that means a licensed live-TV service with its own app, which doesn't need Smarters at all.
Quick answers
How much is an IPTV Smarters Pro subscription? The app is free. Its Premium upgrade was $4.99 on Apple's App Store in October 2026. Monthly "subscriptions" on websites are channel playlists from unrelated sellers.
Does Smarters Premium include channels? No. It unlocks app features only. You still need a playlist or login from a TV service.
Is the $4.99 a monthly charge? The App Store page lists it as a single in-app item; your device's purchase sheet shows whether it renews before you confirm.
How do I cancel a Smarters subscription? Through your Apple or Google account's subscriptions page. Deleting the app doesn't stop billing.
Can I get a refund? Apple refunds are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com. Google Play allows requests within 48 hours; after that, contact the developer.
Are "official Smarters subscription" websites run by the developer? No. The developer says it sells no IPTV services and warns about sites misusing its name.
I paid but can't watch anything. Why? Most likely there's no playlist loaded. Premium doesn't add content.
In-app prices, billing terms and store refund policies change and vary by country. Prices are those shown on the public US App Store listing and seller pages in 2026; menu paths reflect current iOS, tvOS, macOS and Google Play versions. Checked October 2026.
