ESPN on IPTV: Every Legal Way to Get ESPN in 2026, by Price

Short answer: ESPN is one of the easiest channels to get legally over the internet in 2026. You can buy it direct through ESPN Unlimited for $31.99 a month, or get ESPN and ESPN2 inside Sling for $19.99, or as part of any big live-TV service. The non-obvious catch: the cheapest routes leave out the channels many fans actually want. Sling's entry plan has no SEC Network, ACC Network or ABC, and only ESPN Unlimited now includes NFL Network in the ESPN app.

What "ESPN" actually covers

When people search for ESPN on IPTV, they usually mean the main channel. But ESPN is a family of networks, and the games you care about may be on any of them.

The core channels: ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU, plus ESPNews and ESPN Deportes.

The conference networks: SEC Network and ACC Network, both run by ESPN.

ABC: ESPN produces ABC's sport, including major college football, NBA and playoff games. ABC is a local broadcast channel, free with an antenna.

NFL Network: since ESPN's acquisition closed in early 2026, NFL Network is part of the ESPN family, and it has been streaming in the ESPN app for Unlimited subscribers since 30 July 2026.

Streaming-only events: many games are available only in the ESPN app, on the Select tier.

So the right route depends on which of these you need, not just whether a service lists "ESPN".

ESPN Unlimited in detail

ESPN's own streaming service launched in August 2025. It was the first time ESPN's full cable line-up could be bought without any TV package.

Price: $31.99 a month or $319.99 a year, following a $2 rise on 17 September 2026.

What's inside: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPNews, ESPN Deportes, NFL Network, ABC's sport in most markets, and everything on ESPN Select.

What's not: other companies' channels. Fox, FS1, TNT, CBS and NBC games are elsewhere. That's why ESPN sells a combined bundle with Fox One.

Who it suits: SEC and ACC football and basketball fans, NBA fans, and NFL fans who want Monday Night Football and NFL Network in one app. For more, see our full guide to ESPN's streaming service.

ESPN Select is a different product

The subscription formerly called ESPN+ is now ESPN Select. It's cheaper, and it's where many smaller-conference games, some soccer including La Liga, and a large on-demand library live.

It does not include the ESPN cable channels themselves. If a game is on ESPN or ESPN2, Select won't show it. This confusion is the most common reason people pay for ESPN and still can't find a game.

Check the listing: games shown as "ESPN+" or "ESPN Select" are in Select; games on ESPN, ESPN2, SEC Network and the rest need Unlimited or a TV package.

How ESPN changed in 2025 and 2026

If you last looked at ESPN a couple of years ago, three changes explain why older advice no longer fits.

August 2025: ESPN went direct. Until then, the ESPN cable channels were only available as part of a TV package. The launch of what is now ESPN Unlimited meant anyone could buy them on their own, month to month.

ESPN+ was renamed. The old streaming add-on became ESPN Select at the same time. Its content stayed broadly the same, but the new name confused many subscribers who assumed it was the full service.

2026: NFL Network joined. ESPN completed its acquisition of NFL Network in early 2026, giving the league a stake in ESPN in return. The channel arrived in the ESPN app for Unlimited subscribers at the end of July, in time for the new season. ESPN also took over distributing NFL RedZone to TV providers.

The result is that ESPN Unlimited is now the broadest single sports subscription in the US, though still only one company's channels.

Using a TV-provider login

If you already pay for cable, satellite or a live-TV service that includes ESPN, you probably don't need to buy anything.

The ESPN app lets you sign in with your TV provider and watch the channels your package includes, on any supported device. The same applies to the SEC Network and ACC Network if your package carries them.

This is often the cheapest way to watch ESPN on a second television or away from home. Provider sign-ins sometimes expire after a few months, so if the app suddenly asks you to subscribe, sign out and back in with your provider before paying for anything. It's also worth checking whether your mobile or broadband provider bundles an ESPN or Disney subscription.

Choosing by the sport you watch

NFL: Monday Night Football is on ESPN, some games simulcast on ABC. ESPN Unlimited now adds NFL Network. See where to watch the NFL.

College football: SEC and ACC fans need Unlimited or a package with the conference networks. Sling Essentials is not enough.

NBA: ESPN and ABC carry a large national package. Either Unlimited or a live-TV service covers it.

Soccer: La Liga sits largely in the ESPN app. Many matches are on Select rather than the cable channels.

Occasional viewer: Sling Essentials at $19.99 gets you ESPN and ESPN2 for the big nights, and it can be cancelled month to month.

Blackouts still apply in places. Some games carried by ESPN are subject to local rules, most often in the NBA and NHL where a regional sports network holds your home team's rights. If a game is blacked out in the ESPN app, it's usually on a local channel instead. Our guide to regional sports network streaming explains how that works.

Try before the season, not during it. Most of these services let you cancel monthly. Subscribing a week before your sport starts gives you time to install the app on every television, sign in, and check the picture, rather than finding a problem at kick-off.

Devices and quality

The ESPN app is available on Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, Google TV, Android TV, Samsung and LG smart TVs, Xbox, PlayStation, phones and tablets. So are Sling, YouTube TV, Hulu and Fubo.

4K is limited. Selected big events are produced in 4K, and only certain services and devices carry them. Most ESPN coverage is HD.

Streams per account are capped. Each service limits simultaneous streams, and ESPN Unlimited's limits apply per account. See simultaneous streams explained.

Offers that bundle "ESPN" into a cheap channel list without being one of the services above are not licensed to carry it. They tend to fail at kick-off and carry security and legal risks. Every legal way to get ESPN is in the table in this article.
